An exciting addition to many Honda models offered by Bay Ridge Honda is Honda Sensing. What is it and what does it do?

Honda Sensing is a group of technologies which help you see things around you that otherwise might be missed. Driving can be stressful, particularly in heavy traffic, so having a system which makes you more aware is a great thing to add to your next Honda. Let’s review the systems:

Lane Departure Warning — You may drift from your existing lane without realizing it. Lane Departure Warning will alert you by providing both sounds and flashing warnings to help you correct the drift and remain in the correct lane.

Lane Keeping Assist — This system recognizes when you start drifting out of your lane without signaling and will make small steering corrections to keep you centered in the lane.

Road Departure Mitigation — This system senses when you are starting to leave the roadway when your speed is 45-90 mph and there is no turn signal active. First, the system vibrates the steering wheel to alert the driver that they are leaving the roadway. If no correction is made, steering corrections and braking are used to bring the vehicle back to the present lane.

Adaptive Cruise Control — This active cruise control uses sensors to maintain a specific distance between your vehicle and the one ahead and will adjust your speed as traffic ahead slows or speeds up. You don’t have to make manual corrections to your cruise control settings.

Forward Collision Warning — This system works in combination with the Collision Mitigation Braking System. A small camera monitors the distance to the vehicle ahead of you. If it determines a collision may occur, it issues audio and visual warnings. If you take no action, the Collision Mitigation Braking System will automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision.
Honda Sensing is available on many new Hondas, including the Accord, Civic, CR-V, Pilot, and Ridgeline. If you are interested in Honda Sensing or any of the exciting technologies available in new Honda vehicles, contact Bay Ridge Honda today.
