Honda had announced at the 2017 North American International Auto Show that the 2018 Odyssey would be getting a makeover. Honda will shortly unveil this minivan, and minivan lovers in New York are waiting to check it out! So what can Honda Odyssey fans expect?

Exterior and Interior of the 2018 Honda Odyssey

NY Honda Odyssey

Honda will not touch the exterior too much, as it will keep shape the same as the 2018 Odyssey’s predecessor. However, you can expect cleaner lines and are more sculpted body side. It will also sport a new roof design that will look as though it is floating. Honda intends to use styling and chrome to make the minivan look longer and sportier. LED taillights will be present across all trims, but buyers will have the option to go in for LED headlights. Also, you can expect the 2018 Odyssey to have grille shutters that will increase the vehicle’s aerodynamics.

The 2018 Honda Odyssey will be spacious. However, it is the Magic Slide second-row seat that will be a novelty. This feature allows the outboard seats to be configured in numerous ways once the center seat is removed. Also, the third-row seats can be folded down to increase the cargo space.

The 2018 Odyssey will have two new electronic systems – CabinWatch and CabinTalk. These systems will allow the driver to monitor passengers as well as communicate with them. Monitoring can be done using the optional 8-inch display screen with audio while built-in speakers and microphone can facilitate communication.

Engine Specs of the 2018 Odyssey

The 2018 Odyssey will come with a 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of generating 280 horsepower. This engine is beautifully complemented by the nine-speed automatic transmission, which is the standard. However, you can go in for the proprietary 10-speed transmission for higher-end trims.

Since the minivan is more aerodynamic and lighter, it will have a good fuel economy. However, the EPA rating is not out as yet.

Safety Features in the 2018 Odyssey

You can expect the proprietary sensing suite to be present in the 2018 Odyssey along with several new electronic safety systems. This suite will be available in mid-level and higher trims and includes collision avoidance braking, lane departure assists, road departure avoidance, and adaptive cruise control.
